On Tuesday, June 1, Fisherman’s Mark will kick off its "Farmers, Families and Fisherman’s Mark campaign" with an agra-food event featuring tomato plant giveaways, cooking demonstrations and practical nutritional advice from Gravity Hill Farm.
Fisherman’s Mark, founded in 1980, is a nonprofit organization, located on Main Street in Lambertville, provides a full range of social services for families in need in six counties: Hunterdon, Warren, Somerset, Mercer and in Pennsylvania, Bucks and Montgomery Counties, including a food pantry that emphasizes nutrition.
Tuesday will mark the beginning of many summer events and activities celebrating good nutrition and locally grown produce which includes a commitment by Gravity Hill Farm to open a Farmer’s Market twice a month.
Providing some nutrition education will be Dorothy Mullen of Gravity Hill Farm. She’ll offer cooking demonstrations and tasty samplings using items on stock in the pantry as well as donated produce from GHF.
In previous seasons Fisherman's Mark has received generous donations of local produce from North Slope Farm; Pleasant Valley Farm; Manouf Farm; Farmers Against Hunger; and America's Grow a Row.
The campaign aims to bring together Fisherman's Mark customers and surrounding neighbors through a mutual appreciation of healthy eating and local produce.
