Fisherman's Mark in Lambertville, N.J., recently kicked off the Farmers, Families and Fisherman's Mark campaign.

The agra-food event featured tomato plant giveaways, cooking demonstrations and practical nutritional advice from Gravity Hill Farm, Titusville, N.J.

This marks the beginning of the many summer events and activities that will celebrate good nutrition and locally grown produce.

Fisherman's Mark aims to bring together families and surrounding neighbors through a mutual appreciation of healthful eating and local produce, while consistently providing food to more than 700 individuals in need each month.

In addition to providing nutritional education, Dorothy Mullen of Gravity Hill Farm, offered cooking demonstrations and samplings using in-stock pantry items and produce donated from GravityHill.

Mullen will return to Fisherman’s Mark on Aug. 3, Aug.17, and Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Gravity Hill Farm will return with the outdoor market on Monday, Aug., 9 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Fisherman's Mark has also received generous donations of local produce from North Slope Farm, Pleasant Valley Farm, Manoff Market Gardens, Milk House Farm, None Such Farm Market, Thorpe Farm, Farmers Against Hunger, America's Grow a Row and local garden enthusiasts. Call 609-397-0194.
