Fisherman’s Mark recently kicked off the “Farmers, Families and Fisherman’s Mark” campaign with an agra-food event featuring tomato plant giveaways, cooking demonstrations and practical nutritional advice from Gravity Hill Farm.
This marked the beginning of many summer events and activities celebrating good nutrition and locally grown produce.
Fisherman’s Mark aims to bring together families and surrounding neighbors through a mutual appreciation of healthy eating and local produce, while providing food to over 700 individuals in need each month.
In addition to providing nutritional education, Dorothy Mullen of Gravity Hill Farm offered cooking demonstrations and samplings using in-stock pantry items and produce donated by Gravity Hill Farm, Titusville.
Ms. Mullen, a Princeton resident, will return to Fisherman’s Mark on Aug. 3, 17 and Sept. 7 with hours 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Gravity Hill Farm will return with the outdoor market on Aug. 9 from 9 a.m.-noon.
Fisherman’s Mark also has received donations of local produce from North Slope Farm, Pleasant Valley Farm, Manoff Market Gardens, Milk House Farm, None Such Farm Market, Thorpe Farm, Farmers Against Hunger, America’s Grow a Row and local garden enthusiasts.
Ms. Mullen will continue to bring her nutritional advice to Fisherman’s Mark throughout the season.
Fisherman’s Mark, founded in 1980, is a nonprofit organization, located on Main Street in Lambertville. It provides a full range of social services, including a food pantry that emphasizes nutrition for families in need in six counties — Hunterdon, Warren, Somerset, Mercer, Bucks and Montgomery.
